Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is looking to invest Rs 80 million for expanding its optical fibre cable (OFC) network in 335 gram panchayats in Indore.
The OFC network will be spread over 1,600 km in Indore covering areas like Mhow, Depalpur and Sanver Tehsils and other gram panchayats. The operator is looking to establish a next generation network (NGN) switch exchange in Indore to provide high-quality voice, data and internet services to customers.
In Indore, BSNL has 99,000 fixed line and about 300,000 mobile users. In the current financial year, BSNL net revenues of Rs 700 million, against a target of Rs 1,050 million by March 2013 from the state. Also, an outstanding sum of Rs 210 million is due for non-payment of bills. BSNL has established a recovery cell for this purpose.
